January 2007 — Series 1400 Trace H2O in Argon Analyzer
) GOW-MAC® Instrument Company (USA) introduces their newest process instrument, the Series 1400 Analyzer. The gas analyzer measures trace amounts of moisture (H2O) in argon. Two models cover different analytical ranges: Model 1400-A covers 0-2/0-20 ppm; Model 1400-B covers 0-20/0-200 ppm. Detection is based on spectral emission of argon plasma. High signal gain and improved noise rejection, gives the Series 1400 the guaranteed sensitivity of 10 parts-per-billion (ppb) for H2O.
As with the other analyzers in its family, the Series 1200 Trace Nitrogen in Argon and the Series 1300 Trace Nitrogen in Helium Analyzers, the Series 1400 Analyzer is designed as a rugged, low cost, low maintenance, straightforward instrument to operate. There are no valves, carrier gas, or radioactive source. The analyzer is virtually maintenance-free. Features of the Series 1400 include on-line, continuous analysis of moisture concentration with no need for sample injection or separation columns; Exposure to atmosphere or high impurity concentrations does not result in damage to the analytical cell; Extreme periods of acute dryness will not affect response or detector; Cannot “blind” the instrument; Recovers quickly from high moisture levels; Rapid recovery is enhanced by the unique detector design; No permanent degradation of detector due to high moisture levels; Over-range protection eliminates possibility of false readings caused by high impurity plasma quenching; A non-depleting cell for extended operation provides long life and is maintenance-free; Patented electro-optical modulation eliminates unwanted noise and drift, generating a modulated signal without the use of a mechanical chopper. Relevant applications include air separation plants, argon purification plants, cryogenic truck loading stations, specialty gas laboratories, process control, new line certification, cryogenic steel manufacturing, chemical plants, gas management/monitoring systems, quality control for truck fills & gas cylinders, welding gas management, semiconductor manufacturing, and many more.
